As a consequence of us slowly winding down our activies, we will only appraise instruments sold by us, or appraised by us at an earlier time.
The federation of Appraisers, Realtors and Auctioneers (TMV, www.federatie-tmv.nl ) has the goal to safeguard the competence of their members. This is realized by requiring its applicants to take part in an exam of expertise in their field, which is then subsequently subjected to inspections, ensuring the members’ knowledge remains up to date.
In 1994, Serge Stam was sworn in as an expert in and appraiser of stringed instruments. Following the removal of the term ‘sworn-in’ from Dutch law in the year 2000, a person-bound certification system was introduced on a European level. Certificate holders, registered with the TMV, are internationally recognized.
